This door has the same features as the light duty model but uses a heavier track and rollers to handle doors up to 950 pounds each.

Hanger Doors - Magnum Steel can provide bi-fold, sliding, or stack doors to fit your pre-engineered airplane hangers' dimensions.  There are two types of pre-engineered steel aviation buildings; corporate hangers and T-hangers.  Corporate hangers look more like a typical steel building and use an open-end mainframe design to allow for a large slider door in the end wall.  T-hangers are designed to store the maximum number of small airplanes in a "T" formation by dividing the building up into "T" units.  Sliding doors or bi-fold doors are typically used for T-hangers.  Corporate hangers do not utilize space as well as T-hangers, but are the more popular choice for our pre-engineered aviation buildings.

Dutch Doors - These doors are shipped completely assembled, in two pieces and this steel-clad, pre-hung door is a great maintenance-free exterior door. Available in a wide range of colors, these doors are ideal for letting plenty of light and ventilation into your stalls. The hardware kit (hinges, barn latch, door catch, barrel bolt, screws, and installation instructions) is included.

Materials: 16 gauge, one piece perimeter door panel frame is assembled over 29 gauge flat steel sheets. There is a pre-punched, 3-piece, 16 gauge jamb kit provided to assure a quick, accurate, sag-free installation of the door.

Dimensions: Each panel (2) is 48"W x 42"H x 1 3/8" T (Rough Opening: 49 1/2" x 87 3/8" (includes jamb)

Framed Openings – Factory located openings that may be used for all types and sizes of commercial entry ways, including storefront glass, sliding, Dutch, and overhead doors.

Walk Doors - They are pre-finished commercial white, with solid core insulation and complete hardware package. Optional hardware includes door closers, panic hardware, and mortis lock.

Available Models

Magnum Steel offers standard insulated and non-insulated steel walk doors (man doors) in 3'x7' (3070/single leaf), 4'x7' (4070/single leaf), and 6'x7' (6070/double leaf). Each "knock down" door package requires assembly and includes weather-strip, trim kit, leaf, frame, hinges, and threshold. Door and frame are reversible for left or right-hand operation. Brief specifications follow.

Each door package includes all the necessary framing and trim for complete installation

Installation in Building

Standard walk doors are "field located," meaning that we do not include them in the design of your steel building. You can install them on any section of a wall that is not obstructed by a column or bracing cables. If the precise location of one or more walk doors is critical, you should confirm the exact column and cable placements. Installation itself is fairly simple, and we include all the necessary materials.

Note: It is possible that installing an unusual number of walk doors in a wall could compromise its structural integrity. Please advise us if you plan something out of the ordinary.

Gutters and Downspouts - Gutters really enhance the appearance of a building, and, except in areas with a lot of snowfall, we strongly recommend them for commercial properties. Gutters and downspouts control the runoff from the roof. They prevent it from splashing the sides of the building with water and mud, and they help channel it away from parking lots and other areas where you don't want water to pool. Magnum Steel provides factory-mitered rake and gutter trim, and our custom-manufactured corners are literally a snap to install properly.

Liner Panels – Interior walls of steel paneling that is excellent for finishing off the inside of your building.  They are available in 26 & 29 gauge galvanized steel and are screwed into the wall and/or roof framing.  Liner panels serve two purposes; they give the interior a finished look and they protect the insulation and exterior walls.

FEATURES:

  • R values as high as 20 can be achieved by varying the insulation thickness and sub-girt depths.
  • Sub-girts in Zee and Hat shapes, roll formed from 16 and 18 gauge galvanized steel.
  • Liner panels provide a flush appearance to the building interior
  • Perforated liner panels for improved acoustical performance
  • Standard acrylic coating, Arctic Ice color; optional coatings and colors available

Eave Canopies and Roof Extensions - Many steel buildings use canopies and roof extensions because they can increase the performance for a relatively small additional cost. Canopies are similar to roof extensions, but a canopy creates an overhang on the sidewall, whereas a roof extension creates an overhang on the end wall. There are a number of benefits to both canopies and roof extensions.

  • Shade and Shelter - Having overhangs over doorways offers both employees and customers some shelter from rain or snow and some shade from the sun.
  • Appearance - Canopies and extensions are very common on steel buildings that are used for churches, retail centers, and other buildings where an attractive appearance is important. Having roof overhangs helps keep the steel building from looking like a "steel box". Roof overhangs can be critical for steel buildings that are located in residential or upscale commercial environments.
  • Controlling Runoff - Overhangs can also help control runoff by keeping rain and snow further from the walls and doorways of your steel building. This can be especially important for steel buildings that do not use gutters.

Skylights & Wall Lights - These translucent panels provide inexpensive lighting through the roof and the walls. Optional insulated skylights are also available.

A "light transmitting panel" is a plastic roof panel installed to admit light. The UV-stabilized, light transmitting panels are high strength translucent panels that are made of glass fiber reinforced polyester. The high strength translucent panels match standard panel profiles, and are white with a granitized top surface. Insulated light transmitting panels are also available.

Windows - These windows are self-framing and flashing. We offer them with single or double pane in a wide variety of sizes. Optional Thermal glass is available as well.

Magnum Steel offers several types and sizes of windows for metal buildings, including two sizes of insulated windows and two "slimline" sizes. Each package includes aluminum window frames, glass, and flashing fins. More detailed descriptions and specifications follow.

Installation Options

Magnum Steel’s windows are "field located," meaning that we do not include them in the design of your steel building. You can install them on any section of a wall that is not obstructed by a column or bracing cables. If the precise location of one or more windows is critical, you should confirm the exact column and cable placements.

All of our windows are "self flashing." They include fins that match the profile of the wall panel and attach to it with screws. Typically, no other framing is needed; however, some special situations require a full subframe with sill, header, and jambs. Magnum Steel adds a framing kit to windows selected for buildings designed with a wind load of 100mph or greater. With lower wind loads, these same kits are available as an option.

Note: It is possible that installing an unusual number of windows in a wall could compromise its structural integrity. Please advise us if you plan something out of the ordinary.

Available Models and Sizes

Sizes marked with a * are available both insulated and non-insulated. Non-insulated models have mill-finished (aluminum) frames and insulated models have a bronze finish. The "nominal" dimensions below include framing and flashing. To figure the size of the opening needed for a window, use the formula (Nominal Width - 2 1/8”) x (Nominal Height + 1/2”).

Door Canopies - A projecting roof system that is supported and restrained at one end only. These low profile canopies are available for both 3070 and 6070 walk doors and a variety of other custom sizes and styles.  Ideal for added shade a protection from weather conditions over windows as well.

Circular Vents - Ventilation is important in steel buildings and the most economical way to vent your building is a circular vent; comes in 20” and 24” models with corrugated or flat flashing and complete with operator. Each vent includes a bird screen and features a spring-loaded butterfly damper which locks securely open until released. Our flat-base vents can easily be field modified to fit the appropriate roof slope for a weather tight installation.

Ridge Vents - Available in 10' sections, the 26-gauge structural-quality galvalume vents are available in mill finish or Polar White to really pull the air through your building, with or without operators.  For a typical steel building, one 10' ridge ventilator will serve 2400 square feet of space. Each comes with rain cap, bird screen, and an adjustable damper as well as the connector bar and gutter splices needed for installing multiple units in a continuous run. The base is preformed to the proper roof pitch (1:12 up to 4:12), and we provide instructions for their simple installation.

Louvers - They can be fixed or operable, and they allow you to put fresh air into your building. An insect screen is standard, and louvers may be installed either singly or side-by-side.   Available in standard rectangle or custom shapes.

Note: Like windows and walk doors, louvers can be placed on any unobstructed section of a wall. If the precise location of louvers is important, call and discuss it with one of our representatives before you buy a building or as soon as possible afterwards.

Cupola - An outlet for the natural flow of warm air in an upward direction is provided through the louvered sides of this cupola, while adding charm to the appearance of your steel building.  Available in 2, 3, and 4 foot square models, our fully functional cupolas are constructed of 29 gauge steel and are available in a wide variety of colors to match your building.  The cupola comes with a bird screen and color coordinated flashings, and is available with either light transmitting panels (Plexiglas) or vents.

We offer a complete line of weathervanes to give your cupola that finishing touch. The weathervanes come in two sizes - 30” for two and three foot cupolas, 40” for the four foot cupola.  They are constructed of high cast aluminum, painted in black, and are available in six different designs; horse (shown above), tractor, horse and buggy, rooster, cow, or eagle.

Insulation - Fiberglass is an excellent insulator and has been widely used in the United States for decades in all types of construction. Although fiberglass insulation is available in many forms, we recommend that you only install a product that has been specifically designed for use in steel buildings. Steel building insulation consists of blankets of woven long-strand fiberglass that are laminated on one side to a vapor-barrier facing. We use only "UL" rated insulation of the highest "R" value, available with vinyl or reinforced backings. Below is a listing of the accepted R-values for fiberglass blanket insulation of different thicknesses when properly installed in metal buildings (higher numbers indicate greater effectiveness).

Facings

The facing material of metal building insulation plays several important roles.  Different facings vary in three key qualities: workability, permeability, and durability.

The workability of a facing refers to the temperature conditions required for installation. Cold causes some vinyl facings to become brittle, and these may crack or split during installation. Not only does this kind of damage look bad, but it will seriously degrade the facing's ability to do its job as a vapor barrier.

The permeability of a facing refers to the rate at which water vapor will pass through it.  Metal buildings need a good vapor barrier. The effectiveness of various materials is measured in "perms," and lower numbers mean greater resistance to moisture. Most facings are layered with different materials, and the better ones usually incorporate polypropylene or some other essentially waterproof material.

The durability of a facing indicates how well it stands up to physical stress without ripping or tearing, which is important because the facing is usually left exposed on the interior of a metal building. The least durable facings are made of one layer of un-reinforced vinyl, which can be punctured or damaged by only light contact. Reinforced facings have a layer of "scrim" or some combination of materials that help prevent the facing from tearing.

For relatively low cost, WMP-VR offers superior performance

Barn Stalls and Doors - All Magnum Steel horse stalls and barn accessories are made in the United States.  All doors are shipped completely assembled, sanded, and ready to hang.  The inside edge of each door is clad with galvanized edging (bite guard) to prevent cribbing. Vertical door edges are wrapped with a galvanized steel channel for added protections and beauty. Magnum Steel provides you with all of the necessary components to make installation simple. You will find each door has been assembled and sanded to a smooth finish and drilled for hardware.  All the grills are assembled and if you use our optional post anchors, you won’t even have to dig any holes.  You are also furnished with a materials’ list that enables you to acquire all the planks and posts at your local lumber yard.
